Lord Ian Blair


Ian Blair was the highest ranking officer within the Metropolitan Police Service between 2005 and 2008, holding the position at Scotland Yard of Commissioner of the Police of the Metropolis.

During his time in office, Ian experienced counter-terrorism, homicide investigation, anti-corruption and well as organisational change and leadership. Ian also led the Metropolitan Police through the 2005 London bombings. Ian’s experience of direct leadership in an age of heightened national security makes his insight into controlling the safety of society invaluable. Ian’s informative approach to after dinner and keynote speaking make him highly sought after.

Ian Blair read English Literature at Christ Church, Oxford and is now one of the college’s honorary students. A trustee of St. Paul’s Cathedral, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the Woolf Institute, Paul also sits as the Chair of the Thames Valley Partnership. Ian was ennobled in 2010 and sits as a life peer in the House of Lords.
