Bundee Aki is one of the most well-respected characters in World Rugby. He is is a professional rugby union player who plays as a centre for United Rugby Championship club Connacht. Bundee’s career has seen him reach new heights and is now recognised as an extremely successful rugby player.
Bundee began his career with Counties Manukau in New Zealand. Bundee made significant impact to the teams performance, making 9 appearances and scoring three tries. The team finished fourth in the Championship Division of the 2011 ITM Cup. Counties Manukau finished top of the Championship Division earning them side promotion to the following year’s Premiership Division. Bundee then moved on to play for Chiefs in Super Rugby, contributing to their 2013 championship-winning season and excelled on the pitch. In 2014 he moved over to Ireland, kickstarting his international career. Joining Connacht Rugby, Bundee quickly became a key player, helping the team secure the Pro12 title in the 2015-16 season. After qualifying through residency, he debuted for Ireland in November 2017 against South Africa. He was instrumental in Ireland’s Grand Slam victory in the 2018 Six Nations Championship and has continued to be a consistent presence in the team since. Bundee then went on to be selected for the British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa in 2021 where he earnt his first test cap in the final match of the series. Bundee has been recognised for his commitment to the sport by being nominated for World Rugby Player of the year 2023.
Off the pitch Bundee is a busy dad to four kids and husband. He has a passion for fashion and traveling as well as being a budding whiskey collector.
