Mike Tyson

Undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson, had a high profile boxing career that spanned two decades. Known for his impressively high win by knockout record, the star was the youngest person to win the WBC, WBA and IBD World Heavyweight Titles simultaneously. Tyson has been inducted into both the Boxing Hall of Fame and the WWE Hall of Fame, proving his status as one of the most influential characters in boxing and one of the most desirable boxing speakers on the after dinner speaker circuit.

Tyson’s first ever televised bout came in February 1986, against Jesse Ferguson. Tyson knocked down Ferguson with an uppercut and broke his nose, it was only one round later that the fight had to be stopped, with Tyson winning by technical knockout. Mike was given his first title fight in the same year against Trevor Berbick, in which Mike won by knockout in the second round.

Power, hand speed, coordination, and timing meant the vast majority of fighters were hugely intimidated by Tyson, who became the youngest ever heavyweight at only twenty. At the peak of his career, in 1987 Tyson won both the WBA and IBF Heavyweight Titles in two intense knockout fights. He later went on to defend the titles nine times, joining the likes of Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali and Evander Holyfield as the only men in history to regain a heavyweight title after having lost it.

Ranked by The Ring as being No.16 on the 100 greatest punchers list and first on the ESPN.com list of hardest hitters of heavyweight history, Tyson is a boxing legend in his own right. Holding an impressive record of fifty-eight fights with fifty won, forty four by knockout, Tyson deserves the title of Ring magazine Fighter of the Year, which he won on two occasions (1986 and 1987).

Retiring in 2005, Tyson has since toured the US on a three month national tour ‘Mike Tyson: An Undisputed Truth’, in which he gives audiences an insight into his prolific career. The tour was released as a film and a New York Times Best Seller book.

As a speaker, Mike Tyson reflects on his time as boxing’s supremo, sharing his experience of the most brutal sports on earth, his personal and professional life, and the times he overcame extream adversity. One of the most desirable sports speakers, combining humour, charm, and wit to create an engaging and compelling presentation of his life, Tyson is the ideal after dinner speaker.
