The world's second-best active heavyweight by The Ring as of 2020, Anthony Joshua is a former unified world heavyweight champion, with a truly impressive record in his professional career. Anthony rose to prominence as a teenager before winning the ABA Championship aged 21. Though he was offered a professional contract, Anthony turned down the lure of £50k to pursue his dream, saying, "turning down that £50,000 was easy. I didn't take up the sport for money, I want to win medals". As a speaker, he discusses with audiences the events that led him to such a decision.
His success on the domestic front, winning the 2010 and 2011 English National Championships as well as the 2010 Great Britain Boxing Championships, earned Anthony a place on the GB Boxing team. By the end of 2011, he had a silver medal from the World Championships in Baku, was named Amateur Boxer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Club of Great Britain and earned a place at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Anthony went on to become a national treasure at his hometown Olympics. The Watford local fought to the final, beating former World and Olympic champion Roberto Cammerelle to win the boxing Olympic gold medal. Anthony’s success saw him appointed an MBE in 2013 for services to boxing. When booked for events, he invites audiences into the world of Olympic competition, supplying them with an insight unlike any other. He finally turned professional in the summer of 2013, making his debut at the O2 Arena in London, where he won by a TKO in the opening round. In 2015, Anthony became the British and Commonwealth Champion for the first time, later defending his title with a seventh-round knockout against Dillian Whyte. Anthony is one of the biggest boxers in the world, since earning the IBF Heavyweight Champion title and won the vacant WBA Super title.
Further impressive victories followed, making Anthony the unified heavyweight champion in 2017. From 2018 onwards, Anthony Joshua delivered a run of statement victories that underlined his status as one of boxing’s dominant heavyweights. He unified the division by outpointing Joseph Parker in 2018, stopped Alexander Povetkin at Wembley, reclaimed his world titles from Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019, and later produced authoritative wins over Kubrat Pulev, Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou. The second-round knockout of Ngannou in 2024 stands out as a clear example of his power and control against elite, world-level opposition. The run reached a global peak in 2025 with Joshua’s high-profile knockout of Jake Paul in Miami, a bout that drew huge international attention. Joshua controlled the fight, scoring four knockdowns before stopping Paul in the sixth round, handing him his first knockout loss.
A powerful and talented fighter with extraordinary ability, Anthony is one of the greatest British boxers in history. Also known for his humility and values, he is one of the world's most likeable sporting stars, which has led to his extreme popularity with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. A true joy to witness present live, Anthony is the perfect special guest at your awards ceremony, corporate event, or charity fundraiser.
