Rachel Arthur is a consultant, speaker, and writer dedicated to reforming the fashion industry with a key focus on sustainability. She lobbies for changes that will be less harmful to the planet and its population by targeting supply chains, hoping to transform the current business models. She is currently the Advocacy Lead for Sustainable Fashion at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and has also helped advise major businesses including Google, UNFCCC’s Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, and the British Fashion Council’s Institute of Positive Fashion.
Rachel attended the University of the Arts London to study Fashion Management, before attending Cardiff for postgraduate journalism and later the prestigious University of Cambridge for studies in Business Sustainability Management. The skills gained from this extensive education helped Rachel to begin her career as an award-winning business journalist contributing to many major titles including, Wired, Business of Fashion, Forbes, Vogue Business, NY Times, Guardian and more.
More recently, Rachel has transitioned into a consulting role, she worked as the Strategic Lead of the Fashion Sustainability Project for Google, the environmental data platform in partnership with WWF and as a result, many other luxury and retail businesses have sought out her strategies and innovation via unique business models and supply chain revolution. Rachel also worked as the former Chief Innovation Officer of Current Global, gaining further experience and knowledge which has helped grow her career. As a result of her dedication and hard work, in 2020, Rachel was named on Glamour’s list of “30 People Changing the Face of Fashion" and was awarded Trade/B2B Fashion Journalist of the Year by Fashion Monitor in 2015. Rachel is also the Co-Founder of FashMash, a ‘global community bringing together the changemakers shaping the future of fashion’.
As a speaker, Rachel is one of the leaders in her field with a substantial amount of knowledge and experience which has led to her being highly sought after.
