Kate Brandt

Kate Brandt is a preeminent figure at the forefront of the war against climate change. Currently working as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Google, Kate is a pinnacle figure in Google's climate-friendly action plan. Having also worked for the US Department of Energy, the Department of Defense and the White House, Kate has worked alongside famous names such as Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Now hired as a keynote speaker on sustainability, Kate will detail how she is revolutionising the sustainable practices of tech giant Google. 

After graduating with a Master's in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, Kate began her career working for Obama For America, as part of the Women for Obama Florida Campaign for Change. She then joined the National Security Agency Review Team, as part of the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team. In 2009, Kate was appointed as a Political Analyst in the Office of Energy and Climate Change at the White House and as a Special Advisor for Energy to the Secretary of the Navy in the Department of Defense. These high-profile roles shaped Kate's expertise in sustainability and helped her to secure the role of Director for Energy and Environment at the White House in 2013. She has also since worked as a Senior Advisor in the U.S. Department of Energy, and was appointed as the Federal Chief Sustainability Officer at the White House in 2014. During her time working at the White House, Kate oversaw the sustainable upgrade of 360,000 buildings and 650,000 vehicles - which amounted to $445 billion in annual products and services.

Kate has also worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Change Leadership for Sustainability Programme at Stanford University, and as the Director of EVgo. Initially appointed as the Lead for Sustainability at Google in 2015, Kate has been working as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Google since 2018 - paving the way for a more sustainable future. As a testament to her success and influence as a woman in business, Kate was named one of the 40 Most Influential Women in the World and on the top 46 Sustainability Leaders by Forbes. In 2023, Kate attended the World Economic Forum 2023 in Davos, speaking on the 2023 theme of 'Cooperation in a Fragmented World'.
