Gary Neville is an English football pundit, businessman, former player and coach, and co-owner of Salford City. Best known for his time as Manchester United captain and one of the legendary Class of ’92, Gary is one of the most decorated English footballers of all time. Across two decades at Old Trafford he lifted 20 major trophies, including eight Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions League medals, cementing his place in football history. A natural leader on and off the pitch, he has become a highly respected voice in sport, business and media.
Gary’s journey began in 1991 when he joined Manchester United as an apprentice straight from school. Within a year he captained the youth side to FA Youth Cup victory, playing alongside his brother Phil, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt. This group would go on to become the foundation of Sir Alex Ferguson’s golden era. Gary made his senior debut in 1992, quickly establishing himself as first-choice right-back by the 1994-95 season. In 1995, he earned his first cap for England, and over the next decade became his country’s most reliable defender, representing England at three European Championships and two FIFA World Cups, finishing his international career with 85 caps.
At Manchester United, Gary made over 600 appearances and was known for his consistency, tactical awareness and leadership. Following the departure of Roy Keane, he was named club captain in 2005, leading the side for five years and lifting his first trophy as captain with the 2006 League Cup. Among his highlights were the 1999 Treble-winning season, two Champions League victories, three FA Cups, and the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. Individually, he earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year five times, was included in the PFA Team of the Century (1997–2007), and was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2015. After retiring in 2011, Gary moved into punditry with Sky Sports, where his sharp, well-researched analysis won wide praise. He also served as England assistant coach from 2012 to 2016 and briefly managed Valencia. Beyond football, he co-founded University Academy 92, invested in property and hospitality ventures including Hotel Football, and in 2024 became an investor on BBC Dragons’ Den.
Audiences book Gary because he offers an authentic perspective on leadership, teamwork and resilience. Drawing on experiences from captaining Manchester United to coaching on the international stage, he speaks with authority about handling pressure, embracing change and building winning cultures. His topics span sport, business and media, making him relevant to both corporate and educational audiences.
