Youth, Club, and National level player, Steph Houghton is a professional footballer who’s versatility has seen her rise to success. Aside from her international success, Houghton has had great achievements at club level. Starting out at Sunderland, she aided the team in getting promoted from the Northern Division, before moving to Leeds United after five years. Again, Houghton proved a valuable asset to Leeds United as she played a pivotal role in their 2010 FA Women’s Premier League Cup win. Following a three year stretch at Arsenal, Houghton signed with Manchester City in 2014 where she has achieved 131 appearances and continues to be an asset.
As a player, Houghton was awarded the Young Player of the Year award for the 2006-2007 season due to her role a Sunderland. For her services to football, especially for women, she was appointed an MBE in the 2016 New Years Honours list.
