Sarina Wiegman has become an admired Women's Football Manager, after leading the England Lionesses into the Finals of the Women's Euros. After retiring from her footballing career in 2003, Wiegman focused on managing other football teams, including the Dutch and English women’s teams. Sarina is now looking to speak about her journey throughout the Football Industry as a woman and when booked, she will share her knowledge and experiences with the audience.
In 1989, Sarina attended the University of North Carolina, where she played for the North Carolina Tar Heels women's soccer team. After finding her passion for football, Sarina returned to the Netherlands and began playing for Tar Leede, where she won the Dutch Championship and KNVB Cup. Being a talented female footballer allowed Sarina to represent the Netherlands from 1987 to 2001, with her official cap total standing at 99.
After retiring in 2003, Sarina focused her career on managing, where she began managing smaller teams such as Tar Leede and has worked her way up to manage national teams such as the Dutch and the British Women's teams. She led to victory the Dutch team to victory in the 2017 UEFA Women's Euros and has now led the England Lionesses into the finals of the UEFA Women's Euros 2022. Due to her successful managerial career, Sarina has been awarded as ‘The Best FIFA Women’s Coach’ and the ‘World Best Women's National Coach’ by IFFHS. In 2022, Sarina was named Coach of the Year at the BBC Sports Personality Awards. In 2023, Sarina was made an Honorary CBE in the New Years Honours list. Sarina Wiegman is a world-renowned women's Football Manager, whose career is at its peak currently due to the incredible performance of the England Lionesses.
