Jill Scott MBE is an English professional footballer who has played at multiple top teams in the Women’s Super League as well as being a veteran at the international level with over 16 years of experience as a Lioness.
Jill began her senior professional career with Sunderland, winning a Women’s Player of the Month award for her consistently high-quality performances. Following her time at Sunderland, Jill secured a move to, the now WSL team, Everton where she received the FA Tesco Player’s Player of the Year Award and was appointed as a digital media ambassador raising awareness for the WSL. Scott spent 7 successful years at Everton where she helped them win the FA Women’s Premier League Cup and the FA Women’s Cup. Following her time at Everton, Scott moved on to Manchester City from where she has been out on loan back to Everton and Aston Villa.
Jill has been involved in football at an international level for the majority of her career. Having been the captain of the U-19 side, Scott got the call-up to the senior squad making her debut in 2006 in a 4-0 victory against the Netherlands. She then made it into the squad for the 2007 World Cup starting the majority of the matches. Her impressive performances and continual success at the domestic level earnt her a spot in the 2009 UEFA Women’s European Championships where she scored the winner in the Semi-final propelling England into the final. She was then named in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad.
Following her success as a professional footballer, Jill Scott was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to women’s football. Later that year, Jill and the Lionesses were awarded the Inspiration of the Year Award at the Pride Awards following their incredible performance at the Euros.
