Harry Redknapp is a retired professional footballer and recently a proven manager for several huge English clubs. Harry made 279 appearances as a player in a career from 1965 to 1982. He is better known for his expertise as a manager, and he helped guide Portsmouth to their FA Cup victory 2008. As a player, Harry's career started at West Ham United in 1965, playing at the club for 7 years, making 149 appearances before moving to Bournemouth in 1972. He would go on to play for Bournemouth during four seasons and make 101 appearances. Harry went on to play for Brentford before moving to the US to play domestic football over there. A revered speaker on teamwork, leadership and performance, Harry participated in a Q&A with Oxford Union to reflect on his footballing career. He is regularly booked to share star-studded anecdotes from his time on and off the pitch.
Harry's first major managerial role came at his former club, Bournemouth, where he was announced as the assistant manager. He became the first team coach later that season, and in his first full season in charge, he helped guide Bournemouth above the relegation zone and stay in Division 4. In 1987, he managed Bournemouth to Third Division glory as they gained an impressive club-record 97 points in the season. He then moved to West Ham United, where he introduced several young English talent to the squad. He brought players like Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand from the academy into the first team and helped establish West Ham as an established FA Premier League side. With an unbeatable understanding of high performance, Harry teaches audiences how he developed countless football teams into winning signs.
After West Ham, Harry moved to Portsmouth and guided Portsmouth to the Division One title in the 2002-03 season. He helped the club survive in their first season back in the Premier League before he resigned and moved to Southampton. Harry eventually returned to Portsmouth in 2005, but moved to Tottenham after a few great years with the club. His most recognisable stint as a manager was for Tottenham. He helped guide the club to the Champions League and was also named the Premier League Manager Of The Year. More recently, Harry pledged to help England's "worst football team," Cwm Albion and co-managed the England football team for Soccer Aid alongside Jill Scott.
Harry is considered a legend at Tottenham and many other clubs. He helped grow Tottenham into a regular Champions League side, and his managerial efforts will be forever remembered.
