British golfer Malcolm Gregson joined the professional circuit back in 1961, where he toured across Europe and played against a number of notable golfers. Making a name for himself as an impressive sportsman long before the advent of the PGA, and European Tour in 1972, Gregson remains a popular choice as an after dinner speaker due to his consistent victories and unrivaled experience.
Hitting his prime in the 1960s, Malcolm had perhaps his most successful year in 1967 when he made three team appearances and achieved one tie and two individual victories. A career highlight for many, in ‘67 he was selected as a part of the Ryder Cup team, representing Great Britain, and in the same year was chosen to as a member of England’s World Cup line up. After winning both the Daks Tournament and Schweppes PGA Championship, Malcolm firmly established himself as a fierce competitor, and one to watch on the course.
Throughout his career, Malcolm collected a number of high profile trophies including those that, since the development of the European Tour, have fallen out of recognition. Trophies such as The Harry Vorden Trophy. Which he was awarded as the leader of the Order of Merit, and The Gor-Ray Cup adorned his mantle long before many of his golfing contemporaries had even picked up a club.
Demonstrating his skill Malcolm Gregson made the top 100 in the Order of Merit for the first nine years of the European Tour, but went on to leave the series in 1982 to graduate on to his senior career. Since joining the Senior Tour, Malcolm has continued his success and achieved a further five wins on the European Seniors Tour. Most recently he has achieved first place in: IS MOlas Senior Open (1998), Irvine Whitlock Jersey Seniors Classic (2003) and the De Vere Northumberland Seniors Classic (2004).
Alongside his work as a golf speaker Malcolm regularly takes part in charity tours raising money for a number of worthy causes. In his capacity as a golf speaker, Malcolm not only discusses his work as a golfer but also highlights the importance of sporting charities. As a speaker, he is professional, charming and most importantly, entertaining, the perfect addition to your golf day or as your after dinner speaker.
