Nick Dougherty

Nick Dougherty is a retired professional golf player from England who has three European Tour wins to his name. Highly successful as an amateur, Dougherty won ten amateur events before turning professional, this included three Faldo Junior Series events. Since retiring, Dougherty has become a presenter for Sky Sports, he covers many big golf tournaments and is a big favourite among many avid golf fans. Turning professional in 2001, Dougherty received his first European Tour card in 2002. After a solid year, he was placed 36th in the tour rankings and was named the Rookie of the Year. He earnt his first tour victory in 2005 at the Caltex Masters in Singapore. At the end of this season, Dougherty broke into the world top 100 for the first time and ended 15th on the European Tour.

Dougherty also played in many major tournaments and his most noticeable performance came in the 2007 US Open. Dougherty was leading after the first round and continued in fine form throughout the tournament, he ended the tournament in seventh place to earn his only major top ten. Later in the year, Dougherty won his second European Tour when winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
