A regular on the BBC News at 6 and News at 10, Ben Wright is a well-known face on our TV screens since 2008, for being a political correspondent for the BBC. He has also featured on Radio 4 programmes such as Today and the World at One.
Born in Birmingham, Ben studied Modern History at St Peter’s College, Oxford. After graduating, Ben was appointed Chief Political Correspondent for Radio 4, and then went on to work in Washington. He works extensively covering a variety of primarily political stories from around the world, including India, USA and Europe, which affect British politics. Amongst many, he has covered the general election, budgets, Presidential visits, Prime Ministerial trips and the expenses scandal.
Ben also sometimes presents The World This Weekend and PM on Radio 4 and has again reported from India, Afghanistan, the United States and Europe. Ben was based in Brussels during David Cameron’s EU negotiations and is a specialist on Brexit.
Not only is Ben an experienced journalist, but he has also written a book focusing on the changing drinking habits of politicians in Westminster and the world, named Order! Order! The Rise and Fall of Political Drinking, which has received great reviews. Tatler magazine chose it as a book of 2016, describing it as ‘a lively canter around a sozzled subject that’s both informative and entertaining’, and The Sunday Times said the book was ‘like being the only sober guest at an uproarious party and the subject makes for a very entertaining talk!’
