
English psychiatrist, Steve Peters, works in elite sport and is best known for his work with British Cycling. Working within the English Institute of Sport Steve has had involvement with twelve olympic sports along with England Rugby and Premier League Football. Following Ronnie O'Sullivan's fifth world snooker title win, the first person he thanked was Steve, which only emphasises how effective his methods are.
Steve is an extremely intellectual man holding degrees, higher degrees and postgraduate qualifications in mathematics, education, medicine, medical education, sports medicine and psychiatry. He started his career teaching mathematics before moving on to medicine. With over twenty year experience in the clinical field of Psychiatry he has worked at special hospitals with patients who had severe and dangerous personality disorders.
With clients spreading across a wide range of industries from business and elite sport to health and education he also has also had the opportunity to work with members of the public. Steve played a huge part in the success of Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics making him extremely in demand within the sporting industry. His clients have included NHS organisations, schools and universities, the emergency services, Olympic teams and a huge amount of other sporting teams.
For over ten years he has also been a part of a small team of doctors who grant therapeutic use exemption certificates for UK Sport and has been an expert witness to WADA which stands for Work Anti-doping Agency. Steve is a huge influence and has shared his knowledge through public speaking and writing and has produced a best selling book titled The Chimp Paradox. The book explores his mind management programme which is used to help elite athletes perform at optimum level.
Steve has a wealth of experience in public speaking where he shares his passion which is the workings of the human mind and how it can reach optimum performance.
