Rachel is an award-winning broadcaster who presents the 5Live Breakfast show and BBC Breakfast – covering news, sport, business and entertainment. She's been the anchor for major national and international stories including the US Presidential elections and recent UK terror attacks. Rachel has presented on national radio for 14 years, starting out at BBC Radio Bristol and moving to BBC 5Live in 2003, where she now co-presents the Breakfast programme with Nicky Campbell.
It has a wide remit – covering news and current affairs, business stories, sport and entertainment. In the last few years, Rachel has been embedded with British troops in Afghanistan, reported from the scene of terror attacks in Paris and Manchester, and broadcast live from the US for the recent Presidential elections. She has also anchored coverage from the Olympics and World Athletics Championships.
Since 2015, she's also been a regular weekend presenter for BBC Breakfast, where she's been praised for her warmth, ability to react to unexpected moments on live television, and hold politicians to account. Away from her regular day job, Rachel has extensive experience hosting conferences both within and outside the BBC. She is also committed to supporting women in the workplace, as a mentor for female colleagues, and an active member of the campaign for equal pay.
Outside her professional life, Rachel is a proud ambassador for the Manchester-based charity Retrak, which works to help vulnerable children living on the streets in some of the poorest parts of the world.
