WHO IS BARONESS CATHERINE ASHTON?
Former High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Baroness Catherine Ashton has enjoyed vast success within her political career. A hugely influential figure, Catherine was the Leader of the House of Lords as well as Lord President of the Council in Gordon Brown’s first cabinet throughout 2007. It was in this period that she played a leading role in passing the Treaty of Lisbon.
