Lee Sansum

Lee Sansum is ex-Royal Military Policeman, martial arts champion, author and entrepreneur who is most well-known for being the bodyguard of the late Princess Diana, having had the honour of protecting both her, and Prince’s William and Harry on numerous occasions. It was only by pure chance that Lee was not in the car the same night the Princess died, a night, he says, was a pivotal moment in his life. In South Armagh he would save an AWOL soldier from a honey trap and he worked undercover in Northern Ireland where he joined the Special Investigation Branch (SIB). Upon leaving the army, Lee began working in the field of private security. He has been involved in hundreds of close protection missions protecting the likes of politicians, royalty, delegates from the European Union and billionaires. Some of the high-profile personnel he has protected included, Tom Cruise, Princess Diana, Sylvester Stallone, Nicole Kidman and Alex Salmond.

As well as playing an instrumental role in live hostile evacuations in Libya, during their 2014 Civil War, and training with the Somalian Special Forces, Lee is also an 8th Dan martial Arts Master and coach for Team Great Britain. He utilised his many years of experience from training one thousand plus military and civilian security specialists to teach his own son Damon kickboxing to World Championship level. Lee specialises in the Psychology of Combat, teaches Close Quarter Contact internationally, is an accredited British Government Hostile Environment Awareness Training Advisor and has been the lead CP Instructor for the biggest training providers in international security. Aside from his illustrious career in personal security, Lee is also the author of the best-selling book ‘The Bodyguard’ and ‘Protecting Diana: A Bodyguard’s Story’.
