Ashley Banjo choreographer and creator of Diversity exploded onto our screens back in 2009. Since then Ashley has been a lead judge on Sky 1’s Got To Dance for 5 series and has created 4 series of Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew, another hit show on Sky 1. Also, in 2014 Ashley Banjo’s Big Town Dance was broadcast on Sky 1 which was another huge hit!
Since winning Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, Ashley and Diversity have won numerous awards, been the first act to perform outside No. 10 Downing Street in front of the Prime Minister. They have sold out five UK & Ireland tours and are the only dance group to ever sell out the 02 arena in their own right.
They currently have another Brand New and Exclusive – up close and personal 31-date theatre tour on sale, which is almost sold out. Ashley started dancing at 5 years old at Dancework Studio, which was opened up by his parent Danielle and Funso almost 30 years ago. Ashley’s mother Danielle, a former ballet dancer taught him from an early age and Ashley grew into a creative talent very quickly.
Ashley has a unique vision and believes that dance is a powerful tool to connect with everyone. He also believes that dance can be used to help conditions such as alzheimer’s, autism and simply to build confidence. Ashley’s aim is to use the opportunities that he has been given to be the most positive role model he can be. The mottos that Ashley, the rest of Diversity and Dancework have always believed in are: Dream, Believe, Achieve And Our similarities make us strong but our differences make us stronger.
