Tracey Neville is the Head Coach of the England national netball team that led the team to a historical achievement winning the 2018 Commonwealth Games run and in doing so saw England win their first gold medal, beating the favourites Australia on their home turf. The sister of Gary Neville and twin sister of Phil Neville, Tracey’s family have an incredibly famed background in sport and she has certainly followed in their footsteps. A former player herself, Tracey enjoyed a decorated and distinguished playing career with the Leeds Met Carnegie as well as winning 81 caps for England. One of the most successful netball coaches within the history of the sport, Tracey Neville is available to hire as a speaker for events, dinners and functions across the country through the Champions Speakers agency.
Success in the games was especially pertinent for Tracey as she was a player with the team that won England’s first-ever netball medal. She played for the national team for over 15 years, accumulating 81 caps to her name. An injury forced her to retire, after which she moved into coaching and undertook a mission to raise the sport’s profile nationally. She began coaching at club level with Team Northumbria, before becoming the director at Superleague club Manchester Thunder. After just four years as a coach she was appointed interim England manager before being given the job full-time shortly after.
Tracey has revolutionised netball in England, instilling a professional, open and accountable team culture. She has also changed things off the court, raising the sport’s profile, overhauling its structure, bringing in sponsorship deals, and making it one of the most popular participation sports in the country. All of this has helped her team start to overturn netball’s historical dominance by New Zealand and Australia, as witnessed in the Roses’ last-minute victory in that dramatic Commonwealth final.
An incredibly successful personality within the game that is held in the highest regard, Tracey Neville is an exceptionally inspiring speaker that is able to motivate guests as well as share a host of entertaining, insightful and engaging tales that she has accumulated through her career as both a player and manager. Dedicated to raising the profile of netball throughout the country, the Commonwealth Games winning coach runs the aptly named Tracey Neville Netball Academy at Sedbergh School during summer term break and personally coaches young aspiring athletes that have an interest in the game.
