Mary Earps is the current Goalkeeper for both the England Lionesses and Manchester United women's team. Since starting her career at the England U17’s team, Mary has developed her football skills and is now one of the most successful women's goalkeepers to date. Mary started her professional career in 2009 at Leicester City Women's Football Club. At the age of 18, she signed for Doncaster Rovers Belles, where she regularly began to play and demonstrate her talent in the sport. With a bright future ahead, Mary was able to sign for multiple different teams such as Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City throughout her career and is currently playing for Manchester United Women’s team.
Recognised for her dedication to football, Mary has also been part of the England team since 2008. Since being part of the U17 team, Mary has built upon her football career and is now part of the England Lionesses, playing an integral part in the UEFA Women's Euros 2022 winning squad, alongside Team Captain Leah Williamson, talented defender Rachel Daly and iconic midfielder Jill Scott. Due to her passion and drive towards working hard, Earps won the PFA Team of the Year Honours in 2016 as her performance had reached an extraordinary standard. Following their inspirational success, Mary and the Lionesses were awarded the Inspiration of the Year Award at the Pride Awards following their incredible performance at the Euros. In 2023, Mary was selected as a goalkeeper for the England Women's World Cup 2023 squad. During the tournament, Mary played in seven games for 660 minutes, having also saved Jennifer Hermoso's penalty in the final against Spain. Her incredible performances as a goalkeeper at the 2023 Women's World Cup earned Mary the Golden Glove award. To complete her highly successful 2023, Mary also went on to claim the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023, the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year 2023, the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year 2023 and the IFFHS Women's World's Best Goalkeeper 2023 awards.
