Laura Muir

Laura Muir has continually made headlines for her talents as an athlete, specialising in middle-distance running events. Competing in the distances of 800m, 1500m, 3000m and 5000m, Laura has set both British and European records and is now booked as a sports speaker for a range of corporate and public events. When booked as a speaker, Laura covers her success story as an athlete and inspires all to enjoy sports.

Best known for her talents as a middle-distance runner, Laura has been ranked in the World All-Time Top 20, set the British record for the 1500m and is the European record holder for both the 1000m and 3000m. Having enjoyed a successful career so far, Laura has claimed a Gold European Championship medal, four Gold European Indoor Championship medals, two Gold European Cross Country Championships medals and a Bronze European U23 Championship medal. Having also competed at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Laura aspires to compete in further Olympic Games.

Laura has been passionate about athletics for the majority of her life, first making her International debut at the 2011 European Cross-Country Championships. Proving her worth as an athlete in her debut, Laura was able to take the win as part of the Great British Women’s team and claimed her first gold medal. From that point on, Laura stormed to victory time and time again and she also received a nomination for the Daily Record Young Athlete of the Year. Laura is now widely known amongst sports fans for breaking the 1000m British record previously set by Dame Kelly Holmes and Doina Melinte’s 32-year long record in the 1500m.

Outside of athletics, Laura is also passionate about Veterinary Medicine and completed a degree in the subject at the University of Glasgow. Having enjoyed an already highly successful career, Laura started off 2021 by breaking the British Indoor record at the World Indoor Athletics Tour in France for the 1500m. Becoming a favourite in the athletics world, Laura is now a popular choice to have as a speaker at corporate and after dinner events.
