Kadeena Cox is a talented Paralympian, who has continually overcome adversity to reach success in her sporting career. Having suffered a stroke in 2014 and diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Kadeena continues to thrive and succeed as an athlete and has won several medals for her talents. Outside of her sporting events, Kadeena has become a popular choice as a speaker for public and corporate events, covering her success story of Olympic glory and world champion titles.
Best known as a Paralympian, Kadeena competes in the disciplines of T38 sprint and C4 para-cycling after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Despite her disability, Kadeena has exceeded expectations and set world titles in the T37 100m and C4 500m. She was also fortunate to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, claiming two gold, one silver and one bronze Olympic medal. She is also a three-time gold Athletic Championship medallist as well as a silver and bronze medallist from the event. In 2021, after the games were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kadeena was selected to represent Team GB at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, claiming Paralympic Gold in the C1-5 750m team sprint. In 2024, Kadeena claimed Gold in the Mixed Team Sprint C1-5 at the Paris Paralympic Games.
Kadeena has been competing in sports from a young age, first competing in able-bodied categories at the age of 15. Showing promise in sprinting, Kadeena was able to achieve bronze in the under-17 categories at the Manchester Open and England Athletics Open Championships and also broke the 12-second barrier in 100m. On track for great success, Kadeena, unfortunately, began to experience ill health in 2014, rushed to the hospital having suffering a stroke. Kadeena recovered from her stroke but was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after extensive tests. Despite the adversity that life had dealt her, Kadeena continued to follow her passion for sports and is a highly successful para-athlete now.
Since becoming a para-athlete, Kadeena has competed in countless competitions and claimed a plethora of medals. She has achieved two gold medals and two silvers in the Para-cycling Track World Championships, a European Championship bronze medal and a World Para Athletics Championship silver. She has also been awarded the Sporting Equals Sportswoman of the Year at the Lycramobile British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards. Kadeena's work was also rewarded with an MBE in 2017 before receiving an OBE in 2022.
An inspirational sportswoman, Kadeena has become a popular choice as a speaker for public and corporate events. She has previously spoken at the likes of the 2019 RootsTech London, revered for her positivity despite the challenges she had faced in her life. A firm believer that her MS diagnosis does not define her life, Kadeena Cox is a true inspiration to all and a great addition to a range of events.
