Jason Kenny, a world-renowned British cyclist, is best known for his performances in individual and team sprinting events. A multiple gold medal winner, he is also a highly celebrated sports speaker who frequently features at events up and down the country, covering topics like sporting success and cultivating determination. Jason has been passionate about cycling from a young age, taking to the track whilst still studying in school.
Competing as a junior, Jason's debut race was at the Future Stars series. The competition for young athletes was held at the Manchester Velodrome and gave Jason the opportunity to prove his capabilities for the first time. In the early 2000s, he competed in different amateur races, leading up to his position in the first fully-fledged Future Series competition as a teenager. The competition showcased some of Britain's most prominent young athletes and provided a platform for Jason to hone his cycling skills.
Over the course of his career, Jason has firmly positioned himself as one of the most prominent cyclists that Britain has to offer. He has won numerous titles, both as a junior and a professional cyclist, including the World Junior Athletics Championship, European Junior Athletics Championship and the Olympics. At the Summer Olympics in 2008 hosted in Beijing, Jason joined Jamie Staff and Chris Hoy to secure a gold medal in the team sprint - the trio even broke the world record in the qualifying round. At the 2012 London Olympic Games, he went on to win two gold medals in the team and individual races. Finally, Jason defended the same titles at the following 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. In 2021, after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games were postponed due to Covid, Jason claimed Olympic Silver in the Men's Team Pursuit.
Following his Olympic performance in 2016, Jason was honoured with a CBE in the 2017 New Year Honours before being Knighted in 2022 for his services to cycling. He continues to train at the HSBC UK British Cycling Centre in Manchester, where his cycling skill goes from strength to strength. In his public speaking, Jason is an expert sports speaker who shares his story to inspire his audience, motivating them to regain control of their own capabilities.
