Jon Norfolk MBE is the Head Coach of the Great Britain Cycling Team, overseeing all Olympic disciplines. With over two decades of experience in elite sport, Jon has been instrumental in shaping the team's extraordinary success. As a former elite athlete himself, Jon has competed against some of the best cyclists in history, holding multiple national titles and setting world records in tandem events. He was a key contributor to the team’s historic achievements at the Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, helping solidify the GB Cycling Team as one of the most successful in history.
After transitioning from competition, Jon quickly established himself as a high-performance coach. Initially recruited as the National Sprint Coach, he was soon promoted to Head Coach of the GB Paralympic Cycling Team in 2013. Under his leadership, the team underwent a cultural transformation that contributed to their top finish in the cycling medal table at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. His ability to foster a high-performance environment, while embracing the diversity of his athletes, was key to their unprecedented success.
In 2017, Jon was headhunted by the Australian Cycling Team to lead their elite coaching programme. During his tenure, he spearheaded a cultural shift and laid the foundation for long-term success. However, in 2019, Jon was re-recruited by British Cycling to take on the Head Coach role for both the Olympic and Paralympic programmes, where he continues to implement innovative strategies and performance plans that keep the team at the forefront of international competition.
Outside of cycling, Jon is a sought-after keynote speaker and performance coach, working with organisations like the Premier League, UK Sport, and leading financial institutions. His presentations bring the world of elite sport to life, offering unique insights into high performance, leadership, and decision-making under pressure. Jon is also a mentor on the Premier League Elite Coach Apprenticeship Scheme, helping develop the next generation of sporting leaders. If you are looking to hire an inspiring and multi-talented speaker for your event, look no further than Jon Norfolk.
