Perri Shakes-Drayton is best known for her talents as an athlete, having competed in a number of prestigious competitions from World Indoor Championships to European Championships. Having achieved an impressive tally of medals, Perri is widely remembered for being the second-fastest Briton of all time in the women’s 400m hurdles and is now booked as a speaker for a range of events. Now retired as an athlete, Perri was once famed for her ability to master the 400m hurdles and the 400m race. A Nike Sponsored Athlete since 2005, Perri has collected an impressive tally of medals including three World Championship medals and six European Championship medals. She sustained a terrible injury at the 2013 World Championships, rupturing ligaments and cartilage in her knee, jeopardising her career and leaving her having to learn to walk and run again. Fortunately, Perri was able to make a recovery and returned to elite sport at the 2017 World Championships.
From a young age, Perri showed promise in athletics, first coming to the attention of the sporting world when she was competing in the English Schools Championships. Proving her worth in sports, Perri was able to set the UK Junior Record Time in the 400m and made her international debut at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Athletics. Before long, Perri was making her mark winning medals, claiming her first win at the 2007 European Athletics Junior Championship with a Silver medal. She later went on to compete in the GB trials for the opportunity to represent Britain in the 400m hurdles but was unfortunately not selected to represent her country. Throughout her career, Perri has had a passion for a healthy lifestyle, and with prolonged periods away from her sport due to injury Perri began the Train with PSD movement. Perri announced that she would be retiring from athletics back in 2019, drawing close to her successful career.
