Kate Hofman

Kate Hofman is the Founder and Brand Director of GrowUp Farms – an endeavour that is taking the farming world by a storm. An entrepreneur who is keen on driving climate and social impact, Kate aims to reduce the environmental impact of growing food that is healthy. Kate possesses a BA in Education and English Literature from Durham University and a degree in Environmental Technology, Business, and the Environment from Imperial College London. Kate served as an Organisational Change Consultant for IBM for nearly 6 years – working across sectors like oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, telecommunication, and travel. In 2011, Kate Co-Founded Arboreal – an organisation that set up self-contained mechanical processing centres that allowed cooperatives in tropical forests to process non-timber forest products.

Through her work at GrowUp Farms, Kate is revolutionising the farming business. Having cracked one of the biggest challenges in vertical farming, that of energy, Kate is using technology, innovation, and strategy to produce the highest quality of food possible. For her incredible efforts, Kate was shortlisted for the prestigious 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards in two categories - the Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year and the Equity-backed Entrepreneur of the Year. 

Finalist in the Guardian’s Sustainable Business “Unsung Heroes” Reader Awards in 2016, she was also selected as a Barclays Unreasonable-Impact Fellow in the same year.
