Joseph Stiglitz is a world-leading economist currently serving as a professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. Winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, his contributions to economics have had a global impact, making him one of the most influential figures in the field of economics today. Commission on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System and later became Chair of the International Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress.
Co-chair of the High-Level Expert Group on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress, Joseph formerly served as Chief Economist at the World Bank and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. In addition to being an Editor of The Economist Voice journal, Joseph’s articles are regularly featured in The Financial Times, Vanity Fair and Newsweek. He is also the author of The Great Divide, The Price of Inequality and The Euro: And its Threat to the Future of Europe. Moreover, Joseph frequently makes appearances on CNN, FOX News and CNBC.
A thought leader in economics, Joseph has been recognised for his contributions by prominent publications, including being named in Politico’s 50 Thinkers, Doers and Visionaries Transforming American Politics Today and one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World By Time magazine. Joseph has also received the Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement, presented to him by the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
