Andrew Sentance

Leading British economist, Andrew Sentance has played an integral role in forecasting and strategizing for several public and private sector organisations. As an independent advisor, Andrew has established a reputation for his senior insights and as such is highly in demand to guide corporate audiences at speaking engagements with his expertise. Awarded a CBE in 2012 for his services to the economy, Andrew is recognised as one of the most influential economists in the country, having been at the forefront of the economic landscape for more than 30 years. Best recognised for his impact as a Member of the Monetary Policy Committee for the Bank of England, Andrew was the third longest serving external member, a testament to his proficiency. Serving on the committee from 2006 to 2011 Andrew was responsible for setting the UK interest rates during such prominent times as the financial crisis and the global recession, in which he proved his value as an influential decision making. In 2011, Andrew joined PwC as a Senior Economic Adviser tasked with supporting clients in navigating the changing economic environment. Replicating this award winning work with corporate audiences, Andrew is renowned for his invaluable insights at his presentations, covering economics, the macro economy and sustainability.

Having achieved his BA at the University of Cambridge, Andrew completed his further studies, both a master’s and PhD at the prestigious London School of Economics, before embarking on his professional career. Evidently a leader in his field from the outset, Andrew was the Director of Economic Affairs for the CBI where he founded the Treasury’s Panel of Independent Forecasts to support the government. Additional early roles include as the Director for the Centre of Economic Forecasting at the London Business School and as the Chief Economist for over eight years at British Airways.

Currently, Andrew continues his long-standing commitment to Warwick Business School as a Professor of Sustainable Business, combining his passion for the environment and economics. In 2019 he was named as a Senior Advisor to Cambridge Econometrics, sought after for his expertise and decades of experience in climate forecasting. As a speaker, Andrew expands on his career and utilises his prominent position in British economics to act as an adviser to corporate audiences.
