Bronislaw Komorowski


Bronislaw Komorowski is a Polish politician and historian who served as the President of Poland from 2010 to 2015. Komorowski served in the position of Minister of Defence from 2000 to 2001. As Marshal of the Sejm, Komorowski exercised the powers and duties of head of state following the death of President Lech Kaczynski.

Komorowski was then the current governing Civic Platform party’s candidate in the resulting presidential election, which he won in the second round of voting in July of 2010. Komorowski was sworn in as President in August of 2010. Komorowski this became the second person to serve on two occasions as Polish Head of State.

In May of 2015, Komorowski conceded the presidency of Poland to the rival candidate, after the latter gained a 51% majority in the second round of the Presidential Election, the closest election in Polish History. A highly important role that Komorowski filled, he played a vital part in the world during the period 0f 2010 – 2015.
