Fortune Magazine gave Barry Gibbons the title of ‘Turnaround Champ’ after his phenomenal success in boosting Burger King‘s fortunes. When he took over, not one of its non-USA (i.e. International) businesses was financially healthy.
Within a year of taking on the role as CEO, Burger King was opening two new restaurants a day around the world and within four years it was trading healthily in 55 countries and making pre-tax profits of around $250 million.
Furthermore, when he took over, Burger King had no representation in the UK but they acquired the Wimpey brand to develop a thriving business.
Barry received international recognition for his performance as the US-based CEO of Burger King Corporation for five years.
Now having retired from big business, Barry Gibbons is a successful entrepreneur, author, inspirational speaker and co-founder of the UK publishing business Infinite Ideas.
He has written six business books, one on public speaking and one novel. He has given over 250 speeches on four continents to the bluest of Blue Chip companies. His experiences, anecdotes, humour and practical tips are as relevant in today’s challenging climate as they have ever been.
Barry talks about how to lead (not manage), how to energise the workforce, how branding runs throughout every facet of an organisation; and how to develop a relationship with customers that goes beyond satisfaction.
When recession hits, many organisations run the risk of alienating all their stakeholders – that includes investors, employees, communities, suppliers, partners as well as clients and customers. Survival and future prosperity can depend on establishing (or re-establishing) a connection with these stakeholders; this is Barry Gibbons’ theme.
Barry has made hundreds of speeches to blue chip corporations. His aim is to show audiences how to stay ahead in fast-changing and increasingly unpredictable markets.
