Marvin Humes

Media personality, singer and renowned DJ, Marvin Humes is best known for his late-night slot on Capital FM and his previous membership of British boyband, JLS. From beginning his career on The X-Factor to having amassed a huge fan base, Marvin has established himself as one of the most instantly recognisable presenters within the UK.

As part of R&B boyband VS in 2004, Marvin was headhunted by Oritse Williams who was aiming to form his own band. Joined by Aston Merrigold and JB Gill, the four came together to form UFO and were signed by Epic Records in 2007. Only a year later, the band that would later be renamed to JLS entered the 2008 series of The X Factor. They performed the likes of Ben E King’s Stand by Me, Sean Kingston’s Beautiful Girls and Rihanna’s Umbrella before reaching the final where they faced the later winner Alexandra Burke. As the fourth ever band to make it to The X Factor final, JLS found significant success from the ITV reality singing show. Their debut singles Beat Again and Everybody in Love,/cite> both topped the UK Singles Chart and their opening album sold over a million copies in the UK.

After the world-renowned boyband dispanded, Humes initially became a member of a new dance group called LuvBug before going onto host a radio slot for Capital FM. #FridayNightCapital aired between 7 pm and 10 pm and kickstarted ‘The Weekend Lives on Capital’ campaign. He eventually became the presenter of The Vodafone Big Top 40 that was broadcasted across the network as well as voicing the Capital Late Show.

Since establishing himself as a highly-regarded presenter, Marvin Humes has gone onto co-present This Morning along with wife, Rochelle Humes. He has also presented The Voice, BBC’s Children in Need and music quiz show The Hit List.

As a passionate philanthropist, Humes helped to set up The JLS Foundation in which raises money for six different charities. He has also contributed to various Children In Need events as well as Comic Relief, Sport Relief and Soccer Aid. Along with JLS, Marvin helped to spread awareness with a total of five charity singles in which four topped the UK Singles Chart.
