Inspired to embark on a career in the food industry, Gautier undertook his initial training in Brittany. Over the course of seven years spent in France, Gautier learnt his trade inside out, perfecting his knowledge of flavours, produce and menus through a variety of positions as commis chef, and Chef de partie. Making his way effortlessly through the roles a professional kitchen has to offer, Gautier’s natural flair for creating culinary masterpieces was evident from the outset of his career. Establishing himself in England in 1987, Gautier not only navigated the Michelin star restaurant at Chewton Glen Hotel, but learned how to speak English too, proving his dedication to his future.
Currently, Gautier is known as the King of Hotel Quinta de Serra’s kitchen, dedicated to creating an evolving menu that represents authentic Maderian cuisine.
