A prolific striker who forged his name into the history books during his time as a Premier League footballer, Teddy Sheringham is remembered for scoring the equaliser in the dying embers of the 1999 Champions League Final for Manchester United against Bayern Munich. Moments later, he would spectacularly provide the assist to the winning goal to establish himself as a Manchester United legend. Able to discuss 'that goal' as well as a rich history as a professional footballer at club and international level for England, Teddy captures the imagination with his after dinner speeches. Ideal for inspiring teams to reach higher levels of peak performance, as well as improve teamwork and focus on themes such as determination, mental resilience and concentration he can adapt his speeches to tailor for any corporate, charity or sporting occasion.
Spending 8 years at Millwall, Teddy established himself as the club's second highest goal scorer of all time with 93 goals in 220 games. He then journeyed to Nottingham Forest where he enjoyed the accolade of scoring the first Premier League goal for the club. A strong spell brought him to the attention of Tottenham Hotspur, and he signed for the club in a £2.1 million deal ahead of the 1992-93 season. At Spurs he was the top goalscorer in the division in his debut season for the club, scoring 22 goals. He formed an impressive strike partnership with the likes of Jurgen Klinsmann and Chris Armstong. The former later described Teddy as the most intelligent strike partner he'd ever had.
After earning himself a reputation as one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League with Spurs, Teddy moved to Manchester United, in the hope of securing the first trophy of his career. At the age of 31, many pundits believed it to be a longshot and that he might not be the man to replace United's outgoing superstar, Eric Cantona. His career at United didn't start in the best possible fashion and even up until the dramatic events of the season's climax he had not really established himself as a regular in the team, only just making enough appearances to win a league medal. A week later though, he scored the opening goal from the substitute's bench to help United win the FA Cup. Then of course, his role from the bench again was crucial to the 1999 Champions League Final when Manchester United secured a historic treble.
His form picked up again in the 2000-01 season where Teddy was eventually awarded the Footballer of the Year award by the PFA and FWA, prompting a spot in the 2002 FIFA World Cup squad for England. In the tournament, he made the last of 51 international appearances in the defeat to Brazil in the quarter finals. Finishing on eleven goals for England and having struck up a memorable strike partnership with Alan Shearer earlier in his career, Teddy made quite an impact for his clubs and country. This saw him inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame.
