In 1998, Dwight joined Manchester United, in a debut season that saw him play an integral role in securing the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League wins. In his 96 appearances for Man U Dwight achieved three Premier League wins and the 1999 Intercontinental Cup. With his unrivalled scoring abilities, Dwight set the record for the most goals by a non-European in the Premier League.
Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Dwight began his football career there and represented his country on numerous occasions. Gaining his first cap in 1989, over the course of 20 years, Dwight made 78 appearances for his national side and became integral in their success. A highlight for Dwight came in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, for which he was the captain, played every minute of each game and won Man of the Match, a testament to his influence on the side. Following his success at the World Cup, Dwight was named a Sports Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago.
Having been inducted into the Sydney FC Hall of Fame, won the Premier League Golden Boot and been named Premier League Player of the Season, Dwight retired an award-winning player in 2009. Since, he has remained a popular figure in the sports sphere, as a pundit on Sky Sports and an after-dinner speaker.
