Tanya Marwaha is an inspirational youth mental health advocate and the founder of Championing Youth Minds. This youth-led community helps over 5,000 young people globally, supporting them through mental health related challenges. Having struggled previously with her mental health, stemming from disabilities like Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Tanya knows first hand how young people can be affected. She is now passionate about raising awareness for non-visible disabilities through her speeches, and her incredible story makes her a highly sought after speaker.
Starting her journey from her bedroom, Tanya founded her organisation during the pandemic. As a young female in the South Asian community, it is difficult to navigate mental health support due to the surrounding stigma. Tanya became a suicide survivor at 13 which further motivated her to combat any stigma around the topic, particularly within her cultural context. She became a crucial part in the creation of Baton of Hope UK and is now a trustee of the largest suicide prevention initiative.
More recently, Tanya has shifted her focus to speaking at events. She has delivered impactful talks to over 75,000 people worldwide including on the TEDx stage. Her talks include personal stories and experiences surrounding topics such as mental health, suicide prevention, and neurodiversity. She has recently toured Asia and conducted educational talks and workshops there, further striving to rid any stigma around the topics. Her work has earned her prestigious awards and recognitions, including the Diana Award from the Royal Family and the Points of Light Award from the UK Prime Minister. Tanya has also been featured in major media outlets such as the BBC and Sky News.
As a speaker, Tanya is highly regarded because of her bravery in overcoming adversity and sharing her story with others. Her ability to connect with diverse audiences, especially young people, makes her an influential voice in the field of mental health and suicide prevention. Tanya’s recognition through means of awards and media coverage furthers her credibility as a speaker and an advocate.
