Stephanie Hare is a renowned researcher and broadcaster, who is an expert on the impact technology will have on society – especially its ethical implications. Having forged a successful career working for the likes of Accenture, Oxford Analytica and Palantir, Stephanie has most recently become the author of the bestselling book Technology is Not Neutral: A Short Guide to Technology Ethics. When she is not sharing her expert knowledge in the likes of The Washington Post, The Financial Times and the Harvard Business Review, Stephanie is hired as a keynote speaker for corporate events, having previously delivered speeches on how we can ethically apply artificial intelligence, the future of tech and technology ethics for business and government.
Having earned an MSc and PhD from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA from the University of Illinois, Stephanie has forged her education into a respectable career as a researcher on all aspects of politics, history and technology. In addition to her prestigious education, Stephanie has also held the Alistair Horne Visiting Fellowship at St Antony’s College Oxford, was selected for the BBC Expert Women Programme and was awarded the Foreign Policy Interrupted Fellowship. In 2000, she began her corporate career working as an IT & Strategy Consultant for Accenture, before becoming a Senior Analyst for Oxford Analytica. She was then appointed as a Deployment Strategist for Palantir Technologies in 2015 and as a Principal Director for Accenture in 2017.
Since 2018, Stephanie has focused her time on being a freelance researcher and broadcaster, contributing her expertise frequently to radio and television programmes. She has also had her work published in WIRED, The Financial Times, The Washington Post, Project Syndicate, The Guardian, The Observer and The Harvard Business Review. As of 2022, Stephanie became a member of the Engagement and Ecosystem Strategy Advisory Group of the Alan Turing Institute – a role in which she is working tirelessly to embed ethics into data science and artificial intelligence policies across the country. Having released her debut book in 2022, Stephanie was recognised for writing one of the Best Books of Summer 2022 by The Financial Times and One of the Best Books of 2022 by FT Readers.
Having forged a renowned reputation as an expert on technology and ethics, Stephanie is now highly sought after as a keynote speaker to share her expertise.
