Sinclair Beecham is one part of the duo who founded Pret A Manger. Pret A Manger was initially established in 1983 by another man, Jeffery Hyman. Unfortunately, the company went into liquidation and the branding was brought by the liquidator, David Rubin. Sinclair then went on to buy the name and branding from David Rubin and founded the Pret that we know today. Sinclair opened the first Pret A Manger in London, at 75b Victoria Street.
He also went on to develop the company's menu, which specialised in natural homemade food that was made on-site in the kitchens of the shops. Sinclair also set up the Pret A Manger’s charity, called the Pret Foundation Trust. The trust aims to reduce the levels of poverty in the UK, which is done by receiving donations from products being brought in-store and the charity collection boxes.
The donations are then used to run vans that deliver unsold food to various homeless shelters. In 2009 Sinclair sold his last shares of Pret A Manger, ending his long history with the company. Sinclair has also held a number of other titles in his career. He used to hold the title of non-executive director at Virgin Active, a company. However, the company was sold to the Virgin Group and Sinclair decided to leave. Sinclair also held the same title at Molton Brown, but again left when the company was sold to Kao. Sinclair is a graduate of the Polytechnic of London, where he studied Urban Estate Management.
After graduating he joined a property developer called John Crest Estates as a developer and marketing executive. In quite a different career movement, Sinclair is now in the hotel business. Recently he has opened the Hoxton hotel, which is situated in Shoreditch and hosts 205 beds. Sinclair is also the chairman and founder of WS Hotel Ltd. Sinclair is keen to speak about the factors that have been key to his success, especially in accordance with all his business ventures. He is an expert in branding, customer service and marketing, which he is confident in sharing his experience and knowledge of.
