Rachel Watkyn is a leading female entrepreneur, famed as the founder and Managing Director of Tiny Box Company. Building her business from scratch, Rachel’s empire now boasts over 700 different products, supplying her service to over 100,000 customers on a global scale. Taking her vision to Dragons’ Den, Rachel is also famed as Dragons’ Den’s most successful female entrepreneur and has been awarded multiple awards for her successes. Now booked as a speaker for business events, Rachel shares her journey to becoming the managing director of the UK’s largest online gift packaging company.
Back in 2007, Rachel honed her entrepreneurial vision and founded Tiny Box Company. Her company was created after she came across a gap in the market for ethical recycled packaging solutions, meeting with Robin Banks who decided to invest a share into Rachel’s business. She later took her innovative product with her on Dragons’ Den, catching the attention of Dragons’ Theo Paphitis and Peter Jones. Since then, Rachel has grown her company to have 80 employees and has strived through all manner of challenges from breast and lung cancer to Covid-19 and flooding.
Before the days of success, Rachel was subject to a traumatic childhood, spending time in care homes and disrupted education. Despite such hardship, Rachel has proven that with hard work comes success, now the proud recipient of the 2020 NatWest Everywoman Award and the Rural Business Award 2020. She has also spent time working in Sierra Leone whilst a civil war was raging, which very much inspired her desire to run a Fairtrade company. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Rachel and her team created the Tiny Marketplace which allowed small businesses to sell their product on her platform, demonstrating her versatility as an entrepreneur and ability to move with challenges and changes.
A passionate advocate for female-led business, Rachel is now booked as a speaker for a range of corporate and public events, sharing her journey of building a small business from scratch to success. Encouraging business owners to share hurdles they are facing, Rachel empowers audiences to build confidence and covers important topics such as female entrepreneurship, green business, sustainability and female leadership. Having featured across BBC Radio, The Times Newspaper and The Daily Mail, Rachel has shared her story with many budding audiences and is no stranger to a large audience. When looking for an inspirational female entrepreneur to speak at your event, don’t hesitate in booking Rachel Watkyn today!
