One of the nation’s favourite solo artists, Olly Murs rose to fame after finishing runner-up on ITV’s hit show The X Factor. A multiple number one artist, Murs has enjoyed success in one of the most competitive musical market places in the world. With thousands of fans worldwide, Olly sells out venues and concerts wherever he travels to and reaches the number one spot on record charts in multiple countries.
Auditioning for the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009, Murs performed Stevie Wonder’s Superstition during the audition stages and immediately became a favourite amongst the judges and audience. Finishing second to solo artist winner Joe McElderry, Olly forged a highly successful career in music due to his natural showmanship and charming personality.
Releasing his first single in 2010, Murs was told not to get his hopes up about the prospect of a number one thanks to Katy Perry releasing Teenage Dream the very same week. To Murs’ surprise, his single went straight to number one upon release, beating Perry’s efforts and proving Olly’s popularity with the British public as a solo artist. Olly’s second number one came a year later with Heart Skips a Beat, featuring Brithop rap duo Rizzle Kicks.
Olly has also branched out into work as a TV Presenter thanks to his quick wit and enthusiastic personality. Co-presenting alongside Caroline Flack, Olly featured as part of the team providing The X Factor support show, The Xtra Factor. An ideal personality for television appearances, Olly’s huge fan following is sure to bring in audiences to the show and create a wonderful production for all.
