Sophie Ellis-Bextor, an extremely popular British singer-songwriter, has become one of the country’s favourite indie-pop stars. With her instantly recognisable vocals and upbeat, widely adored tracks like Murder on the Dancefloor, she has enjoyed several chart-topping hits. Sophie first joined the world of music with Theaudience, a popular indie-rock band, before branching out on her solo career in the early 2000s. With millions of copies sold, and thousands of fans entertained on international world tours, a performer like Sophie is a consummate professional. When booked for corporate and public events alike, she thrills audiences, transforming them back to the pop-infused 2000s and 2010s with her classic hits.
Following a successful four years with Theaudience, where Sophie supplied lead vocals, her debut solo album, Read My Lips, was released in 2001. Having already released four UK Top 40 singles with the band, Sophie was no stranger to the charts – her album reached number four in the charts and had four top-twenty hit singles. Sophie is widely known for her track Murder on the Dancefloor, which was the most-played song in Europe in 2002. After several more releases, including Get Over You / Move This Mountain, Sophie wrote, recorded, and released Shoot from the Hip in 2003, another top 20 album.
Sophie is a Platinum-certified artist, a testament to her consistent talent and reams of dedicated supporters. Following Trip the Light Fantastic, another chart-topper, Sophie joined George Michael and Take That on their respective world tours, before embarking on her own in 2008. Following her fifth album, and several onstage collaborations with some of the top musicians in the world, Sophie released Familia in 2016. The album was another success and led to her reworking some of her greatest hits with a full orchestra, titled The Song Diaries. Sophie continues to be as popular as her 1996 debut, demonstrated through her 2020 weekly live streams, titled Kitchen Disco. Having created timeless tracks throughout her career, Murder on the Dancefloor re-entered the UK singles chart in 2023 following the release of the popular film, Saltburn, and has allowed her to secure her first-ever US singles chart, reaching #51.
Sophie is a performer unlike any other. Her infectious passion for entertaining resonates with audiences, while her award-winning talent resulted in several accolades, including; the 2000 Ericsson Muzik Awards, 2001 DanceStar Awards, 2002 Variety Club Showbusiness Awards, 2003 Top of the Pops Awards and the 2014 AIM Independent Music Awards. As charming as she is entertaining, Sophie is the perfect performer for a multitude of events.
