Marcus Collins is best known for his show-stopping performances on ITV’s The X Factor. Performing on the eighth series of the esteemed show, Marcus won the hearts of the general public with his talented vocals, coming in second place to the girl group sensation Little Mix. During his time on the show, Marcus showed his versatility as a singer, performing numbers such as Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours, Rolling In The Deep and My Girl covering genres such as Motown, Rock and Pop.
Before making his fame as a solo artist on The X Factor, Marcus learnt the ropes of the music industry with boyband Eton Road. Eton Road had formerly appeared on the third series of The X Factor, and Marcus was given the opportunity to join the group when a member left. Finding a passion for performing, Marcus was fortunate to perform at an incredible 150 gigs with the band, allowing him to hone his skills of performance. Marcus began to pursue a solo career in 2011, beating 200,000 contestants to reach the final. Singing (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Up) Higher and Higher, Last Christmas, Hey Ya!, Cannonball and She’s Always A Woman alongside his celebrity mentor Gary Barlow, Marcus experienced performing at the highest calibre.
After coming in second place on The X Factor, Marcus signed a record deal in 2012. Working with RCA Records, Marcus released his first single Seven Nation Army a cover of the song by The White Stripes. He later went on to release his own album titled Marcus Collins which was highly successful reaching number seven on the UK Albums Chart. Marcus then released Mercy, which he released his first music video with. Alongside singing, Marcus has also been known to appear on stage. In 2013 he joined the touring cast of Hairspray, playing the character Seaweed Stubbs. He has also performed as part of the cast of Kinky Boots and Hair.
