"A personal experience I need to share Something that happened a week ago in a room of 40+ L&D specialists… I was lucky enough to be part of the L&D 3.0 gathering at the offices of Empiric. The standout session for me was the 45 minutes that could have easily also been five minutes or two hours (total loss of time tracking, which I’ll explain in a minute) led by Michelle Flynn. A facilitated session on breathwork. How to breathe, better. The power of nitric oxide and its regenerative repair work on your lungs. And I felt it in the moment and for days after. What I suddenly remembered from biology was the term for the first phase of breathing- INSPIRATION And the guided breath work was exactly that. Closing your eyes in the company of others and relaxing into the rhythm of the music. Focusing your mind on the right questions is an amazing experience. I felt tingles in my fingers and across my face. Holding my breath at intervals between bow breathing sessions created higher levels of consciousness of things I take for granted. Because it’s always on autopilot. I lost track of time as I became more internally focused on how I breathed and the effect it had on the rest of my physiology.
