Martine Wright has a phenomenal story to share, from despair to determination to succeed. Martine was the last rescued survivor of the 7/7 bombings and sat just three feet away from the suicide bomber. Trapped for over an hour and consequently losing 80% of her blood supply as well as both legs above the knee, Martine shares her inspirational story of learning to walk again, right through to exceeding in sitting volleyball. Considering herself a lucky woman, Martine has gone on to push all limits, living her life to the fullest and sharing her exciting new life opportunities as a sought-after motivational speaker.
After losing her legs in the Circle line bombing during the 2005 London terrorist attacks, Martine has rebuilt her life and found a new purpose. From skydiving to becoming a mother and a wife to becoming the Captain of the British Paralympic sitting volleyball team and gaining a pilot's licence, Martine is the epitome of overcoming adversity. Representing Team GB at the London 2012 Paralympic Games in sitting volleyball, Martine has gone on to become a widely recognised television personality and has presented at many high-profile sporting events - from covering the Paralympics and Invictus Games for the BBC and Channel 4 to roving reporter at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. Such commitment has been honoured with the 2012 Helen Rollason Award at Sports Personality of the Year, recognition as one of the Inspirational Women of the Year by Zest Magazine and as a Vitalise Women of Achievement. In June 2016, Martine was appointed MBE and in 2018 her bestselling book Unbroken saw her win Autobiography of the Year at the Sports Book Awards.
