Professional dancers Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer are known by most for their appearances on the hugely popular BBC One series . Their real-life romance as well as their brilliant on stage performances demonstrate the connection these two equally talented dancers share; as a professional dancing and music act the pair have performed before vast audiences and – thanks to their intimate connection – are always incredibly entertaining to watch.
Karen has appeared in a number series of Strictly, dancing with Westlife’s Nicky Byrne and Hairy Biker and chef Dave Myers to name but a few. Whilst Kevin made a spectacular debut in 2013 reaching the final with celebrity partner and Breakfast News presenter Susanna Reid.
Both long established dancers Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer had already attained much success before joining Strictly, meeting in 2010 the couple had already taken part in the award winning Broadway and West End production Burn the Floor. As a duo the dance act have performed in Japan, South Africa and Australia and given guest performances on the hit television series’ Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance in the USA.
Kevin, who hails from a family of dancers and is the son of former World Champion dance act, took up dancing as a child and by his late teens already held a number of impressive titles including Youth World Number 1 and four time British Latin Champion. As well as winning International titles across Europe Kevin also broke a Guinness World Record when he completed the Strictly Come Dancing Pro Challenge 2013 for most Drunken Sailors in 30 seconds.
Venezuelan by birth Karen attended the prestigious New York High School of Performing Arts – infamously known as The Fame School, and received The Helen Tamaris Award for Excellence in Dance. World Mambo Champion Karen has been performing from the age of ten and specialises in Latin dance.
