Sir Jony Ive

From the Apple Newton Message Pad, to the first iPod released in 2001, Jony was pivotal in Apple’s early success. Credited with designing the iMac’s translucent plastic case, Jony’s influence on Apple is iconic, and in 2015 he was promoted to the Chief Design Officer of Apple, with as much power, prestige and leadership as Tim Cook. For over twenty years, Jony has pioneered one of the world’s most impressive companies in original and innovative design, a testament to his incredible talent. Inspired by his love of motor vehicles as a teenager, Jony pursued a career in design, initially in cars but became instantly invested in technology when he began his degree at the University of Northumbria.

Winning awards for his designs as a student, Jony created a hearing aid which saw him given the RSA Student Design Award and his work exhibited at the Design Museum in London. Showing an early undeniable talent and flair for design, Jony’s first step in his career was at London startup, Tangerine where he proved his concepts were pioneering. Since stepping away from Apple in 2019, Jony founded LoveFrom, working with Apple as a client, and took on the role of Head of College at the Royal College of Art in 2017, inspiring the next generation of designers.

For his career longevity and impact, Jony was awarded a knighthood by the Queen in 2012, and named Most Influential Person on British Culture in 2004, proving his revered status in the industry.
