Jodie Williams is one of the UK’s best track athletes of all time, she is the 4th fastest female in UK history over 200 metres and the 7th fastest woman in the world over 400 metres. Jodie started her career, like many athletes, at a very young age and worked hard from the get-go. All this hard work has since paid off after winning major titles in every age group. For Jodie it was not always a case of relying on her natural talent, she, for someone so young, has displayed immense amounts of resilience and determination. As a speaker, Jodie shares her stories of dedication, resilience, and mental health and intertwines them with all her passions off the track.
Her career as a junior athlete is one which is revered by many. Jodie went on a five-year unbeaten streak between 2005-2010, amassing to 151 races, which saw her win gold in the 100m and 200m events at the 2009 Youth World Championships. At just 16 years old she was the top-ranked British woman over 200 metres. Her incredible feat saw her earn the nickname ‘Miss Moneylegs’ and was described as the “sort of athlete every country is waiting for” by Charles Can Comenee, the UK’s former Head Coach for athletics. In recognition of her immense talent, Jodie was twice the runner-up for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. Such talent came so young came at a cost for Jodie, surrounded by the wrong people who did not have her best interests at heart, just before the London 2012 Olympic Games, she suffered a hamstring tear which scuppered her chances of competing in her home Olympics.
Now, Jodie is one of the most successful UK sprinters winning silver in the European Championships in 200m, silver in the Commonwealth Games in 200m, and was one of only eight women to run under 50 seconds in the 400m semi-finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games where she would go on to finish an incredible 6th place in the finals. More recently, Jodie competeted in the 2024 Paris Olympics where she won a bronze medal in the Women's 4x 100m Relay. Outside of athletics, Jodie is heavily involved in women’s rights after her fellow track athlete, Agnes Tirop, was murdered by her husband. She is now on the board of the Women’s Athletic Alliance and is a Trustee for Femlead Women’s Rights Charity, passionate to change the number of young girls who are dropping out of school at the age their period starts.
As a Trustee for Femlead, Jodie has helped to supply feminine hygiene products for countless young girls in Uganda. From nearly quitting the sport she loves to becoming a two-time Olympian and becoming a passionate advocate for women's and girls’ rights all over the world, Jodie is a powerhouse who always fights for what she believes in. Having to overcome injuries that affected her mental health, Jodie developed an incredible amount of resilience. She now shares her stories from across the globe in keynote speeches, giving her audience a taste of what it takes to become a high-performance athlete with a love of coffee, fashion, adventure, and culture.
