Adventurer and mountaineer, Jo Bradshaw has made headlines as the 3rd British woman to reach the summit of Mansalu and has raised thousands of pounds for charity in the process. An expedition leader and outdoor instructor, Jo is now also booked as a public speaker focussing on topics such as building resilience, being a champion in someone else’s life, reframing imposter syndrome and changing ‘Can I?’ into ‘I Can!’.
Originally working as a business advisor, Jo embarked on her first outdoor challenge back in 2004 when she cycled 500k in Peru from Lake Titicaca to Machu Picchu. Finding a passion for adventure, Jo completed two further cycling challenges and was also appointed as a member of the Challenge Crew of Discover Adventure. Taking a life U-turn, Jo then swapped her extravagant lifestyle of business suits and 4x4s to walking boots and outdoor gear when she began leading Open Challenges for Discover Adventure.
Working with DA for two years, Jo had some invaluable experiences and broadened her knowledge of mountaineering and adventure, ultimately going freelance and achieving the Mountain Leader Qualification. Since then, Jo has enjoyed her career as an expedition leader and outdoor instructor, having become the 36th British woman to summit Mount Everest in 2016 and the 3rd British woman to summit Mansalu. Alongside completing daring expeditions, Jo has also passionately supported the Place2Be charity, raising over £45,000 to date for the children’s mental health charity. Having led over 30 expeditions on Mount Kilimanjaro, Jo is also a teacher and assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
An inspiration to many, Jo now also shares her time as a public speaker for events of all kinds. From charity events to private events, Jo has delivered countless team building workshops drawing on the lessons she has learnt in her courageous expeditions. Having also survived the 2015 earthquake at Camp 1 on Everest, Jo shares eye-opening anecdotes from her expeditions and focuses on topics of reframing imposter syndrome, building resilience and being a champion in someone else’s life. Empowering people to challenge their personal boundaries and achieve the incredible, Jo inspires changing ‘Can I?’ into ‘I Can!’ in both personal and professional life. When looking for a speaker with inspirational stories to share that will encourage overcoming personal challenges, Jo Bradshaw is a fantastic choice.
