Jennifer Cook is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of “Autism in Heels: The Untold Story of a Female Life on the Spectrum”. Having identified as being on the autism spectrum only in her 30s, Jennifer now uses her platform as a writer, media personality and coach to advocate for the needs of the autistic community. When hired as a keynote speaker at a wide range of events, Jennifer touches on subjects such as neurodiversity, inclusion, and reducing anxiety.
In 2011, Jennifer discovered that she lies on the autism spectrum, and has since been dedicated to raising awareness about autism through her books. A Bestselling author of nine books, Jennifer has written titles such as “Asperkids: An Insider’s Guide to Loving, Understanding and Teaching Children with Asperger’s Syndrome”, “The Asperkid’s Secret Book of Social Rules”, “The Asperkid’s Launchpad” and “My Friend Julie: A Sesame Street Book About Autism”. Jennifer’s book have received commendation from the Wall Street Journal, American Library Association and AA Digest. Her memoir “Autism in Heels” was included in the 74 Best Autism Books of All Time list by BookAuthority.
Jennifer received a rarified education at Ivy League schools such as Brown and Columbia University. Today, her work as a coach is instrumental in unzipping hidden social rules that are helpful to neurodiverse people, whether they are children or adults. She offers the tools to reduce anxiety, interact with other people and lead their lives with confidence and in the way that they wish to. Jennifer is also a Member of the Autism Society of America’s Council of Autistic Advisors and is a Consultant for Congress’ Autism Research Panel.
Jennifer's work is often applauded in the media and she has received recognition on BBC World, NPR, the New York Post and in Amy Poehler's "Smart Girls at the Party". She champions the autistic community and demands action from changemakers, and has delivered speeches at the White House, National Institutes of Health and several other platforms. She is also known for her role as the Autism Expert on Netflix’s 'Love On the Spectrum', where she helps adults on the autism spectrum navigate their way through dating and finding love.
