Unbelievably hilarious comedienne Janey Godley is a one-way ticket to event success. The Scottish playwright, blogger, author, columnist and, of course, incredibly funny comedienne, has toured the world with her act - most notably, off-Broadway in New York. Whether she is a panellist on BBC's Have I Got News For You or hosting BBC Radio 4’s Just a Minute, Janey's quick wit and thick Scottish accent can keep audiences hooked on her every word. Janey is the ideal booking opportunity for a wide range of occasions, from corporate events to public comedy festivals.
Janey burst onto the comedy circuit in 1994. After a decade of winning over audiences, she was awarded the 2002 Best Show Concept at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival. This kickstarted a long stream of awards for Janey, including the 2006 Spirit of the Festival, and multiple nominations for such accolades as Edinburgh Evening Times' 2006 Scotswoman of the Year Award and 2009 Best International Guest by the New Zealand Comedy Guild.
Regularly taking the Edinburgh Fringe Festival stage by storm, Janey's unique comedy style and likeable personality earned her the Fringe Report Award as 2008 Best Performer and two Nivea Funny Women Fringe Awards, Best Stand-Up and Best Show. During this period, Janey was described as “one of the most prolific and extraordinary stand-up comedians working in the UK”.
Based on an incident that she witnessed on a train, Janey created the play #TimAndFreya. After tweeting about the couple's relationship breakdown, she was inspired to immortalise the viral encounter on stage - the performance was highly celebrated, and given 5 stars across the board. Additional success includes her podcast, which was shortlisted for the comedy category of the 9th annual US People’s Choice Podcast Awards in 2014, reflecting her international influence. In 2019, Janey filmed Traces, co-wrote and starred in The Last Mermaid and enjoyed several viral social media posts. Her short film was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Scottish Comedy Award at the Glasgow Herald Culture Awards, and Celebrity Allie Of The Year at the Scottish Pride Awards. Judging from her numerous awards, it is no surprise that Janey is celebrated as an immensely popular comedienne on the events circuit.

"Excellent – the guests loved her! I think with 70% of our audience being Scottish, she was the perfect comedian. Many of them commented that Janey had kept them sane during lockdown J She was very funny and it was definitely evident that she was talking directly to our guests rather than them watching her on youtube or TV. The guests enjoyed interacting with her and had plenty of questions." - Lucy, Strata
